VUFO and ICAP enhance cooperation
PANO - Vice-President and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Don Tuan Phong hosted a reception on April 10 for a delegation led by Cuban hero and President of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Fernando Gonzalez Llort, who is paying a working visit to Vietnam from April 9 -15.

At the reception, the host informed the guest that 2018 is a year full of important events. This year, the two countries are celebrating the establishment of the diplomatic relations.
This year will also see the 45th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro's visit to Quang Tri (1973), the 165th birth anniversary of the Cuban national hero Jose Marti (1853) and the 55th founding anniversary of the Cuban Committee of Solidarity with South Vietnam.
Mr. Phong also affirmed that VUFO is always active and willing to cooperate with the ICAP and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam to organize activities with the view of expanding the traditional friendship between the two countries. He also stated that VUFO will always stand side by side with the Cuban people in their request to lift the U.S. embargo imposed on the country.
For his part, the guest highly valued the positive contributions made by VUFO to cementing diplomatic relations and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries in recent years. The ICAP President also hoped that VUFO and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association will enhance their cooperation in promoting the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship among youths of the two countries.
On the same day, VUFO hosted a friendly exchange to welcome the ICAP delegation. The event saw the attendance of Cuban hero and Vice President of the Superior Organization for Entrepreneurial Management of Construction Design and Engineering Antonio Guerrero, who is currently on a visit to Vietnam.
