At the reception, Ambassador Nguyen Tam Chien, Chairman of the Vietnam-US Society, briefed the American guests on Vietnam’s socio-economic development and international integration achievements, the country’s foreign policy, the Vietnam-US relations, as well as consequences left behind from the war in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Prof. Robert Kendall Brigham, Head of the delegation, introduced Vassar College to the host, adding that the main purposes of his delegation, including the school’s professors, lecturers and former students, are to further study Vietnam’s history, country, people, and the “Doi Moi” (reform) period.

Besides, the delegation targets discussions with the Vietnam-US Society and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to map out their cooperation for the sake of the Vietnam-US friendship, he added.

During their visit to Vietnam between March 12 and 23, they will meet with the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research, and the Vietnamese Writers’ Association.
