On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son thanked the Tanzanian minister for accepting the invitation  to attend the 50th anniversary of the South Liberation and National  Reunification Day , demonstrating Tanzania's solidarity and support to Vietnam’s struggle for national  independence.

For his part, Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Mahmoud Thabit Kombo congratulated Vietnam on its achievements over 50 years of reunification, especially in economic field.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the progress in bilateral ties, with Halotel, a Viettel Group project in Tanzania, standing out as a success story.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed Vietnam’s policy of considering Tanzania as a priority partner in Africa. He suggested that the two countries enhance exchanges at all levels, particularly high-level exchanges, and people-to-people exchanges. He also recommended that Tanzania consider opening its embassy in Vietnam soon.

At the talks

They agreed to increase exchanges between ministries, agencies, localities, and businesses from both countries in new potential areas such as national defense, security, construction, human resource training, leadership, management, and experience sharing in the United Nations peacekeeping operations. They will also soon finalize the timing of the second meeting of the Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation to review cooperation, accelerate negotiations, and sign economic agreements, while actively preparing for high-ranking delegation exchanges in the time to come.

Notably, the two sides agreed to mutual support each other at multilateral forums, especially within the United Nations framework, regional organizations such as the African Union (AU), the ASEAN, and the East African Community (EAC), while discussing and coordinating stances on global issues. He also urged Tanzania to support ASEAN and Vietnam’s stance on settling disputes in the East Sea (South China Sea) through peaceful means in line with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982.
