Vietnam, Colombia hold fifth deputy ministerial-level political consultation
Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and his Colombian counterpart Francisco Javier Echeverri conducted the fifth deputy ministerial-level political consultation via a video conference on October 8.
Deputy FM Son shared about Vietnam’s socio-economic situation, experience in coping with COVID-19 pandemic as well as measures to recover the economy and ensure social welfare following the outbreak.
He affirmed Vietnam’s support to the peace process in Colombia.

Deputy FM Francisco Javier Echeverri, for his part, informed the Vietnamese Depty FM about the situation in Colombia and the government’s measures to maintain stability and continue socio-economic development amid current challenges.
He affirmed that Colombia highly values Vietnam’s attainments in the fight against COVID-19 and socio-economic development and the country’s assumption of the role of the ASEAN Chair 2020 and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.
Both sides reviewed and assessed the fields of cooperation between the two countries and the two foreign ministries, and discussed measures to enhance multi-faceted cooperation in the coming time.
They agreed to continue working closely together to maintain the development of relations, promote high-level visits when situation allows, increase dialogue and connectivity between ministries, sectors and businesses, creating a legal framework for trade and investment promotion, and cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, culture, tourism, and education-training.
On the basis of mutual trust, they also discussed international and regional of shared concern, and agreed to continue their coordination and mutual support at international and multilateral forums that Vietnam and Colombia are members like the U.N., Forum for East Asia - Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), ASEAN - Pacific Alliance cooperation.
