The Congress elected a 27-strong executive board led by head of the municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Information and Education Dao Khanh Ha.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong stressed that the Congress takes place on the occasion of the association’s 30th founding anniversary.

Hai Phong now has cooperative ties with eight Chinese cities and provinces, including Nanning, Shenzhen, Ningbo, Guizhou, Ziyang, Henan, and Tianjin, especially cooperation with Yunnan province within the framework of economic corridor cooperation between five cities and provinces of Vietnam and China. In Hai Phong, foreign direct investment from China accounts for 24% of the total FDI into the city with 158 projects, mostly in electricity, electronics, commerce, logistics, and industrial infrastructure.

During this tenure, the association will actively popularize the city’s history and culture, step up friendly exchange targeting youths and students in Chinese localities.

At the same time, it will continue suggesting measures to strengthen solidarity and fine neighborliness between the two countries, taking effective and practical actions to contribute to Vietnam-China strategic cooperative partnership.

Seminars and workshops connecting Hai Phong with Chinese partners to do business and perform other tasks will be also planned.
