Vietnam, China foster bilateral ties
PANO – Vietnamese Deputy Minister Le Hoai Trung and his Chinese counterpart Kong Xuanyou co-held the annual Vietnam-China deputy foreign ministers’ meeting in Guangzhou province of China from February 5 to 6.
The meeting aims to review the bilateral ties in 2017 and discuss exchange and cooperation activities between the two countries in 2018 as well as other bilateral issues.

The two sides agreed that in 2017 in general the bilateral ties saw active development, shown in regular high-level exchanges and common perceptions on enhancing the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The 10th meeting of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation concluded with good results, promoting its important role in coordinating cooperation, increasingly consolidating cooperation via the Party channel, strengthening cooperation in diplomacy, defense and security areas.
The two sides agreed to implement contents and common perceptions agreed by high-level leaders, maintain visits and meetings by senior leaders of the two Parties and countries, aiming to consolidate political trust, soon organize the 11th meeting of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation. The two officials also discussed the effective realization of mechanisms of exchange and cooperation between the two Parties, legislative bodies, between the Fatherland Front of Vietnam and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. The two sides also discussed such fields as diplomacy, defense and security, economy-trade, investment, tourism, and more.
The maintenance of negotiation mechanisms at sea have strengthened mutual understanding and gained progress. The two sides also discussed the complicated issues that captured the concerns of both countries over the past time in the East Sea (South China Sea).
