Vietnam, Australia hold 15th round of human rights dialogue
PANO - The 15th round of the annual dialogue on human rights between Vietnam and Australia took place in Hanoi on August 28 in the spirit of frankness, constructiveness and mutual respect.
Highly valuing the development of the Vietnam – Australia strategic partnership, the two sides shared information about achievements, difficulties and challenges in promoting and ensuring human rights, discussed human rights issues of mutual concern, focusing on the concept of the law-governed State and legal reforms, to ensure basic freedom rights and rights of the vulnerable groups.

Both sides discussed measures to reinforce collaboration within the bilateral framework and at multilateral forums related to the field.
The Vietnamese delegation were interested in Australia’s overcoming challenges in ensuring human rights such as rights of the aboriginals and children, as well as approaches to balance between security demand and anti-terrorism operations.
The two sides also pledged to continue discussing issues of mutual concern to narrow differences, thus raising mutual understanding and deepening the bilateral strategic partnership.
