Addressing the event, Deputy General Director Cuong committed to create favorable conditions for the Hanoi Customs Department to operate the X-ray machine in the most effective way so as to prevent possible illegal transporting hazardous materials, terrorist activities and smugglings.
This can also contribute to ensuring national security and safety of regional and global supply chains.
Within the framework of the EXBS Program, the US Government has provided supports for the Vietnam Customs to strengthen its capabilities to prevent unauthorized trading weapons of mass destruction from entering the country.
The support from the US Government is in various forms, including support for raising public awareness and knowledge of certain fields, support for reviewing the legal basis for strategic trade controls, support for developing training materials on the identification of dual-use items; and donating machinery and equipment such as handheld devices and image scanner.
