At the ceremony, the Vietnamese side handed over two sets of remains found during the 127th joint field activities by Vietnamese people and the joint task force on a mission to find US servicemen and servicewomen missing in action.

The remains were examined by both Vietnamese and US forensic personnel in Da Nang and reported possibly associated with US troops missing in action during the war in Vietnam. The remains were proposed to be transported to Hawaii for verification.

Addressing the ceremony, representatives of the US Government highly appreciated the goodwill and effective cooperation of the Government and people of Vietnam. The search and collection of remains of US troops missing in action during the war in Vietnam is one humanitarian activity held by the two governments of Vietnam and the US. This has been the 141st hand-over of remains of US troops missing in action since 1973.
