A friendship meeting between VUFO and diplomatic corps and international organizations

On behalf of the Party and State leaders and people of Vietnam, Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan sincerely thanked the diplomatic corps, governments and people of foreign countries, as well as international and foreign non-governmental organizations for their support to and cooperation with Vietnam over the past time.

Mrs. Xuan emphasized that people-to-people diplomacy plays an important role in the implementation of Vietnam’s foreign policy and guidelines, contributing to building a favorable international environment for the country’s development.

Speaking highly of VUFO’s significant contribution, Mr. Saadi Salama, Ambassador of Palestine and head of the diplomatic corps in Vietnam, affirmed the VUFO exerted utmost efforts to further foster solidarity, friendship and cooperation via promoting the efficiency of Vietnam’s people-to-people diplomacy.

He reaffirmed his readiness and determination to further accelerate the multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and other countries and international organizations for mutual benefits and for a world of equality, prosperity, cooperation, peace and sustainable development.

People-to-people diplomacy serves socio-economic development

On the same day, the VUFO held the sixth conference of its presidium for the 2019-2024 period to review its performance in 2022 and rolled out orientations for 2023.

Last year, the VUFO successfully accomplished its assigned missions in various fields. In detail, the VUFO and its members carried out practical activities to expand the network of friends and partners, and consolidated special friendships and relationships between people in Vietnam and other countries.

Meanwhile, the VUFO promoted external activities in various fields to enrich understanding of Vietnam’s history, culture, land, people and policies as well as speed up trade and economic development. Besides, the VUFO implemented foreign non-governmental work in a more active and effective manner. Attentively, the disbursement of foreign non-governmental aid to Vietnam in 2022 hit nearly 224 million USD.

In 2023, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga stated the VUFO will continue to bolster people-to-people diplomacy following the theme “people-to-people diplomacy serves socio-economic development.”
