New executive committee of World Peace Council’s 22nd Assembly debuted
PANO - The 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council (WPC) elected a new executive committee with 40 members on November 24 in Hanoi after four working days.

With absolute consensus, the new executive committee elected Pallab Sengupta, General Secretary of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO), as President of the World Peace Council. His tenure starts this year.
Athanasios Pafilis was re-elected General Secretary of the World Peace Council while Iraklis Tsavdaridis was elected executive secretary of the council.
Newly-elected President of the World Peace Council Pallab Sengupta has a special affection for Vietnam. During the years of carrying out revolutionary activities, in any position, Mr. Pallab Sengupta supported Vietnam.
As Secretary General of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization, he has dedicated many of AIPSO's activities to Vietnam.
AIPSO and Vietnam have coordinated to organize a number of activities to boost solidarity and friendship, and enhance understanding between Vietnamese and Indian peoples about Vietnam-India relations. They have also worked closely together within the framework of multilateral conferences and people’s networks.
In 2017, authorized by the State President, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations handed over a friendship order to Mr. Pallab Sengupta. This is a noble award, showing the recognition of the State and people of Vietnam for Mr. Pallab Sengupta's contribution to the development of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and India.
