The guest thanked Romania for training nearly 4,000 Vietnamese experts in diverse areas in the past and providing 10 scholarships for Vietnamese students each year at present.

He asked Romania to push forward the European Union’s signing and ratification of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement to boost trade-investment ties between Vietnam and the EU, and between Vietnam and Romania in particular.

Birchall, for her part, expressed her wish to consolidate all-around ties with Vietnam, especially in economy, trade, culture and education.

She noted the need to clear obstacles in bilateral economic collaboration and underscored the importance of the Inter-Governmental Cooperation Committee mechanism.

She hoped that the meeting of the Vietnam-Romania Inter-Governmental Cooperation Committee scheduled for this autumn in Bucharest will promote cooperation in fields of both sides’ strength and demand such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, oil and gas, and shipbuilding.

The Deputy PM vowed to create favorable conditions for the Romanian Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment to discuss collaboration with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Both sides agreed on the idea to enhance partnership between the two countries’ cities and provinces on the back of their respective strengths and demand.

Earlier on April 3, Luu met Romanian Minister of Justice Tudorel Toader to share lawmaking experience.
