During his stay, Trung held talks with PCF National Secretary Fabien Roussel to exchange information on the situation of each country and party, and measures to strengthen bilateral ties, and exchanged views on several international issues of mutual concern.

Trung presented a congratulatory message from the CPV Central Committee to the 39th PCF Congress, and expressed his belief that it will set out the right directions and policies to promote the achieved positive results, overcome the current difficulties, strengthen the force and increase the PCF's influence on the political arena of France and Europe, thus contributing to peace, national independence, democracy and social progress, for socialist ideals in France, Europe and around the world.

He affirmed Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, and multilateralization and diversification of external relations, and active international integration; as well as its policy of maintaining and consolidating relations with communist parties, including the PCF.

Roussel thanked the CPV for sending the delegation to attend the congress, considering it a manifestation of solidarity, attachment, friendship and faithfulness in the relations between the two parties.

He also had working sessions with the First Secretary of the French Socialist Party and leaders of the ruling Renaissance Party.
