Canadian Communists hail Vietnam as model of development
Canadian Communists have praised Vietnam’s contributions to promoting global peace as well as its shaping of its own development path, particularly in the economic field.
They shared their assessments on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the 55th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist–Leninist) (CPC ML), which brought together about 80 key members from across Canada. Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Vinh Quang led a delegation from the embassy to attend the event as guests of honor.

The Canadian Communists underlined that Vietnam – Canada relations, which have thrived over more than five decades of diplomatic ties, have created a strong basis for people of the two countries, especially among like-minded Communists, to enhance mutual understanding.
Peggy Morton, a CPC ML member, commended Vietnam as an exemplary model for many nations, highlighting the country’s steadfastness under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in upholding independence and self-determination despite global uncertainties.
Philip Fernandez, another CPC-ML member and spokesperson for the Canada – Vietnam Friendship Society, described Vietnam’s upcoming 80th National Day celebration as a highly anticipated occasion. He underscored Vietnam’s growing global influence, its active role as a two-time member of the U.N. Security Council, and its constructive contributions within ASEAN, including support for regional countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
CPC-ML members said Vietnam’s achievements over the past 80 years represent a model of advancement, and they reaffirmed their resolve to continue holding aloft the flag of Communism in pursuit of a just world free from oppression, exploitation, poverty, disease, and war.
