Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the capacity of research, designing, manufacturing, repairing, upgrading and modernizing weapons, technical equipment and professional tools, in a bid to gradually modernize the People’s Army and Public Security forces, he said.

The PM asked the steering committee, relevant ministries and departments to promote their role, responsibility and coordination to speed up the implementation of programs and plans to fulfill targets in line with the Politburo’s direction on developing the defense-security industry in the new period.

At the meeting, PM Phuc also noted that the Government along with the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security has paid attention to stepping up the development of the defense-security industry over the past time.

The industry has successfully manufactured and repaired new high-tech products, thus partly meeting the demand for weapons and technical equipment of the armed forces, reducing imports and saving the State budget, he added.
