Tourism-related skills competition to open
PANO - The Vietnam Tourism Education Association (VITEA) held a press conference on April 6 in Hanoi to announce the 2017 tourism-related skills competition.
The competition aims to honor and promote creativity of people who are working in tourism sector, and to create a playground for them to exchange experiences; contributing to affirming the important role and position of tourism workers in carrying out the Party's guidelines and State's policies on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector of the country, said Professor, Doctor Dao Manh Hung, President of VITEA.
Accordingly, the qualification round is open for candidates from April 2 to June 30, and the final round will take place from October 11 to 14 in Hanoi.
All Vietnamese people, aged from 18 to 55, who have worked or are working in one of six occupations of tourism sector, namely cooking, bartender, housekeeping, food and beverage, reception and tour guide are eligible to join the competition.
According to the organizing panel, contestants to the semifinal round will have a chance to take part in a training course and a professional image-building course, provided by VITEA to improve their skills. Units and enterprises that have candidates in the semi-final round will be invited to join a training program, co-held by VITEA and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Finalists of the competition will become honorary members of VITEA and be invited to participate in community activities so as to develop human resources for tourism sector.
