The Sojitz Corporation has been operating in Vietnam since 1986 and currently runs over 25 joint ventures across the country. The Sumitomo Corporation, which has present in the Vietnamese market across various sectors such as industrial parks (IP), power plants, chemicals, automobiles, and urban development, recently increased its IP investment, attracting projects worth approximately 6.1 billion USD and providing over 100,000 jobs.

At the ceremony on November 22, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu emphasized that the awards reflect the recognition and gratitude of the Vietnamese Government and people for the significant contributions these companies have made to Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the past five decades and their roles in enhancing bilateral relations.

In their chair positions within Keidanren, Fujimoto and Ueno have also inspired and assisted other Japanese businesses in investing in Vietnam, Hieu said. The diplomat affirmed that the success of Sojitz and Sumitomo represents the success of Japanese businesses in Vietnam and of the host country itself.

The ambassador expressed his hope that the corporations will continue their contributions to and maintain their focus on Vietnam during the country's new phase of development. He pledged that the embassy will accompany them to help the two countries’ economic relations achieve new milestones that align with the stature of their ties.

Both awardees expressed their gratitude for the honor and affirmed their commitments to further contributing to Vietnam’s sustainable economic growth and the two countries’ relations.

Ueno vowed to continue promoting the Japan-Vietnam joint initiative and organizing business delegations to Vietnam to explore investment opportunities and strengthening economic exchanges between the two nations.
