Israel, Vietnam promote cooperation in agriculture and rural development

An Israeli delegation led by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Shalom Simhon is visiting Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, according to a press conference in Hanoi on May 8.
Minister Shalom Simhon is accompanied by 14 Israeli agro-tech businesses and officials.
Speaking at the press briefing, the Israeli Minister expressed his hope that the visit will boost bilateral ties, particularly in the field of agriculture and rural development.
The agricultural sector plays a key role in the two countries’ economies. Vietnam is achieving a rapid growth towards sustainable development. Israel’s agriculture is one of the world’s leading sectors, and the country is willing to help Vietnam develop in this field, he said.
Israeli businesses are very interested in the Vietnamese market, he added.
During the visit, from May 4 to 10, the delegation held talks with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Ministry of Fisheries, and the People’s Committees in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh and Ho Chi Minh City with the aim of exploring cooperation potential for mutual interest.
The two sides also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation in selected areas.
