10,000 fresh coconuts have been exported to the Singapore market, said Mr. Le Thanh Phong, Director of the Le An Service, Trade and Export Company in Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province.

Each coconut was sold at VND14,000. According to Mr. Le Thanh Phong, markets for coconut exports have been expanded. Many businesses from Canada, China and South Korea want to import a large number of fresh coconuts from the Province.

The southern province of Ben Tre has about 50,000ha of coconut, accounting for more than 30 percent of the Province’s total agricultural land.

Coconuts are one of the province’s key export items with an export turnover of millions of US$ every year.
