Present at the conference were  Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, leaders of 20 agriculture-strong localities and more than 500 enterprises, managers and scientists.

Speaking at the conference, the PM mentioned three comparative advantages of the country's economy - organic agriculture, information technology and tourism. He highly valued the significance of the conference in building a clean and organic agriculture towards sustainable development of agriculture in Vietnam.

PM Phuc also affirmed that the Party and State have defined industrialization and modernization of rural areas and agriculture is a task of top significance. Vietnam strives to become a high-tech agriculture hub in the global value chain to promote other supporting sectors such as processing, food, machinery manufacturing industries and development of famous brands of Vietnam.

PM Phuc supported the DAA’s proposal to develop high-tech agricultural complexes and vowed to create all favorable conditions for the DDA to fulfill the project.

He also agreed with suggestions of the DDA to raise technical barriers to protect domestic productions and prevent massive food produce import.

The PM instructed ministries and agencies to revise regulations on land use to facilitate large-scale farming, as well as to complete a master plan on the use of land for agricultural production.

In addition, the PM also asked ministries and agencies to apply non-traditional connections, technology development, and electronic commerce in introducing and consuming products, and connecting to domestic and foreign markets.
