The Institute for Manufacture Shipbuilding (UNINSHIP) under Nha Trang University has built 22 composite offshore fishing boats for fishermen in various provinces including Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.
The vessels are equipped with sonar machines, radar with range of 72 nautical miles and insulated cellars to preserve seafood.

UNINSHIP Deputy Head Pham Tuan Long said that modernizing fishing vessels helps fishermen earn more profit and allows some boat owners to pay back loans for ship building before due dates.
The aquaculture sector in the Central localities is encouraging fishermen to develop composite fishing vessels. Along with modern equipment, the boats are cheap to repair, are reliable, easy to maintain and fuel-efficient.
Khanh Hoa is home to the largest composite fishing fleet with 18 boats, which were built from loans under a 2014 decree. The decree aimed to boost the development of fishery sector, including building high-capacity and composite boats for deep sea fishing.
