According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, export value of key farm produce hit USD 3.3 billion, a year-on-year rise of 27.8 percent.

Meanwhile, revenue from aquatic and forestry product shipments reached USD 1.2 billion and USD 1.43 billion, increases of 29.5 percent and 28.5 percent, respectively.

In February, Vietnam earned USD 179 million from export of about 369,000 tonnes of rice, raising the Jan-Feb rice exports to 861,000 tons, worth USD 419 million, up 17.2 percent in volume and 34 percent in value over the corresponding period in 2017.

Other products saw increases in both volume and value, including coffee, tea, cashew nuts, vegetable and fruits, cassava and cassava products.

Cashew nut export topped the list in the Jan-Feb period, with 54,000 tons shipped abroad, worth USD 555 million, up over 73 percent and nearly 95 percent, year on year. It was followed by vegetables and fruit, worth USD 672 million, up 59.5 percent.

Export revenue of rubber and pepper increased 29.5 percent and 36.5 percent to USD 348 million and USD 121 million, respectively.

According to the Ministry, agro-forestry-fishery imports in February were estimated at USD 2.57 billion, raising the total value in the first two months to USD 5.29 billion, a year-on-year increase of 30.6 percent.
