Vietnam, Cuba prioritize cooperation in key economic sectors
Vietnam and Cuba will agree on specific orientations and solutions to further boost economic, trade and investment ties, particularly in priority areas, at the ongoing 42nd session of the Vietnam–Cuba Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Scientific–Technical Cooperation.

Taking place from August 27 to September 2, the session will review cooperation outcomes in various fields under the minutes of the 41st meeting, while setting out the framework for cooperation in 2025–2026. It will also promote major programs, projects and activities, thereby contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
The priority areas include agriculture and food security, with a focus on sustainable rice production, technology transfer and expanding new cooperative models to ensure Cuba’s food security. In biotechnology and healthcare, both sides will step up collaboration and accelerate joint projects in biotechnology, serving healthcare and agriculture. In the field of energy, the two countries will work on solar power projects to help Cuba address current electricity shortages.
The 42nd session reaffirms the commitment of both governments to create favorable conditions for enterprises of the two countries to cooperate, invest and do business. Important cooperation documents will be signed, laying a solid legal foundation for future cooperation.
