According to Mr. Carsten Baltzer Rode, Deputy Ambassador of Denmark to Vietnam, the Danish Royal family has special ties to Vietnam. The father of Crown Prince Frederik - Prince Henrik, spent his first years in Hanoi in the 1930s. After finishing secondary school in France, he returned to Vietnam to complete high school in Hanoi.
The diplomat underlined that Vietnam has a special place in Prince Henrik’s heart. Crown Prince Frederik and his father have visited Vietnam many times.
Ambassador Prytz affirmed that the upcoming visit of Crown Prince Frederik and his wife is to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of Danish-Vietnamese diplomatic relations. The visit will focus on promoting Danish investment in Vietnam in renewable energy, especially wind energy and energy efficiency.
Together with the Danish Crown Prince Couple, the Danish business delegation consists of 36 Danish enterprises, including the world’s largest shipping company, the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturer and firms that are leading in wind energy and energy efficiency, Ambassador Prytz added.
During the visit, the Danish Crown Prince will pay courtesy calls on Vietnamese leaders, kick off the Denmark - Vietnam Sustainable Energy Summit Forum, visit energy projects in Hai Phong and Hanoi, and inspect Danish companies in Vietnam.
Ways to attract quality foreign investment
Regarding the Vietnam - Denmark relations, Ambassador Prytz shared that Denmark was among the largest providers of official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam. Denmark is honored to make contribution to Vietnam’s remarkable achievements during its transformation from a poor to a middle-income country. At present, Vietnam’s economy is flourishing and Vietnam has become an equal partner with Denmark. The two countries have coordinated in energy, food hygiene and safety, agriculture, health, education, and others. Meanwhile, Denmark has paid special attention to boosting trade and economic cooperation in Vietnam’s market.
Also, Ambassador Prytz stressed that with a good position and stable political system, Vietnam should seek efficient ways to attract quality foreign investment, focusing on environment and sustainable development.
He shared that Vietnam and Denmark are on the same path to reach the target of carbon emission neutrality by 2050. Denmark penned green strategic partnerships with several countries in the world, including India and South Africa. Notably, Denmark is ready to be a trusted partner of Vietnam in its “going green” journey. Denmark will set up various projects and propose solutions to support Vietnam attain the goal.
