The European Union (EU) has signed free trade agreements (FTA) with most of the developed countries, but Vietnam is the first developing country in the Asia - Pacific region that has signed an FTA with the EU.
At the conference, delegates and businesses were updated on contents of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) related to agriculture, such as tariffs, animal and plant quarantine regulations, and food safety management. These contents allow officials to create appropriate plans for exports and meet the requirements of the EU market.
Meanwhile, the event is an opportunity for businesses to find solutions to access the EU market in each sector. It also highlighted training, promoted effective support mechanisms for businesses, and clarified information related to the labor force and market.
Speaking at the conference, Minister Tran Tuan Anh said that the EU market is important to Vietnam in terms of trade, investment, and integration strategy. It is a strategic partner to help reinforce Vietnam’s position and multilateral trade relations.
Through the EVFTA, Vietnam and the EU promote trade liberalization based on transparent and fair rules that will send a positive signal to the international community, creating peace of mind in the business community, contributing to promoting the economic recovery of the two sides after the COVID-19 pandemic.
