This is part of the activities in Vietnam's ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020. The teleconference was chaired by Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung.
Addressing the event, Dung expressed his belief that the event, themed “Better Regulations for Post-COVID-19 Recovery,” with experiences shared by OECD and ASEAN nations, would contribute to promoting administrative reform and abolishing unnecessary regulations, thereby helping businesses overcome crises and recover.
He also affirmed that Vietnam commits to closely work with other countries as well as regional and international organizations to address global challenges.
During the teleconference, Vietnam and ASEAN member countries shared experiences in administrative reform in COVID-19 prevention and control before and during outbreaks.
Since the beginning of the year, nearly 3,900 business conditions, over 6,770 inspection regulations for commodities and 30 related administrative procedures have been removed. During the pandemic prevention and control, Vietnam has also boosted economic development with favorable policies for businesses and people and more.
OECD Deputy Secretary-General Jeffrey Schlagenhauf appreciated the ASEAN-OECD Good Regulatory Practices Network as a very effective cooperation program, adding that the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a blow to the socio-economic development of all countries and territories.
Concluding the event, Dung stressed that Vietnam would try its best to enter ASEAN-4 Group, hoping to be further supported by OECD and the ASEAN Community so that its efforts would contribute to the world’s peace, stability and development.
