Inaugural Vietnam-USenergy security dialogue
PANO - The U.S. Department of State and the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) participated in the inaugural Energy Security Dialogue in Hanoi, Vietnam, on March 30, 2018.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy Sandra Oudkirk and Vice Minister of Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) Hoang Quoc Vuong led the discussions.
During the dialogue, U.S. and Vietnamese representatives exchanged views on securing critical infrastructure and resources; strategic energy supply diversification; energy tariffs and pricing; technical assistance; renewable/new energy technology; regional interconnectivity; and held a commercial session.
In addition, both sides discussed opportunities for U.S. businesses in Vietnam’s energy sector. U.S. companies have shown a strong interest in partnering with Vietnam on a wide array of energy initiatives.
On March 29, meetings with energy technical experts that preceded this dialogue provided an opportunity to exchange views and information about U.S. technologies and best practices for evaluating the feasibility of individual energy projects within an overall national framework.
