The Vietnamese women’s football team have been placed in Group A in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020 Asian qualifying round alongside the arch rivals the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Myanmar.
Group B consists of Australia, China, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei.
Group A’s matches are scheduled to take place in Jeju, the RoK, while Group B’s games will be held in China.
The final round of the qualifiers will get underway between February 3 and February 9, 2020.
The two leading teams from each group will progress to the next round, while the two winning teams and Japan will ultimately go on to represent Asia in the women’s football at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The Vietnamese team have scheduled two friendly matches against India in November, before going to Japan to take part in a training camp ahead of their participation in the Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines.
