Two newcomers have earned their first national team call-ups, namely midfielder Tran Bao Toan from LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC and Doan Ngoc Tan from Dong A Thanh Hoa FC. Toan has previous experience with youth national teams while this marks Tan's first involvement at any national team level.

Notable omissions are center-back Que Ngoc Hai due to his fitness concerns and aging midfielder Do Hung Dung.

The squad will gather in Hanoi on November 21 then depart for a training camp in the Republic of Korea from November 21 to December 3. Kim will finalize the list of 26 players before the team’s opening match with Laos on December 9.

The 15th edition of the biennial competition will be held from November 23 to December 21, 2024, with 10 ASEAN national teams competing to win the championship title.
