Vietnam futsal team prepares for Asian tourney
PANO – Head Coach of Vietnam Futsal Team, Miguel Rodrigo has selected 20 players to prepare for the upcoming 2018 AFC Futsal Championship finals.
Most of them are experienced faces, who had joined international and domestic tournaments previously. In addition, there are some new young players who well performed at the National Futsal Championship this year.
As scheduled, the team will gather in Ho Chi Minh City on January 2, 2018 for a training course before flying to Taiwan (China) to participate in the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship finals, from February 1-11, 2018.
At the event, Vietnam is in Group A, alongside Malaysia, Bahrain and the host Taiwan (China). Vietnamese players will face Malaysia, Bahrain, and the host on February 1, 3 and 5, respectively.
In the 2018 AFC Championship finals, 16 futsal teams are divided into four groups. They will play in a group-stage round robin tournament to decide the top two teams from each group that will then advance into the quarterfinal round.
Vietnam targets to at least repeat their achievement in the last 2016 competition as they were in the top 4 strongest teams as well as secured an official ticket to the 2016 Futsal World Cup.
