SEA Games 33: Vietnam secures 51 gold medals as rowers, shooters shine
Vietnamese rowers and shooters added three more golds to Vietnam’s medal tally at the ongoing 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) in Thailand on December 17 morning, bringing the total number of gold medals to 51.
Rowers brought home the first gold of the day for Vietnam, as Ho Thi Duy had an outstanding performance in the women’s lightweight single sculls, finishing first with a time of 9 minutes 08.053 seconds, a full six seconds ahead of her Philippine rival.

Another gold medal in rowing was bagged by Hoang Van Dat and Nguyen Phu who claimed victory in the men’s lightweight double sculls final, marking Vietnam rowing’s third gold at the Games.
Meanwhile, the trio Nguyen Thuy Dung, Nguyen Thuy Trang, and Trinh Thu Vinh delivered an excellent performance to win the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event, scoring a total of 1,746 points. Notably, all three Vietnamese shooters also qualified for the individual finals, opening up further medal opportunities for Vietnam in the upcoming rounds.
In addition, Vietnam’s Pencak Silat team entered a decisive competition day with four finals, featuring medal hopefuls Duong Thi Hai Quyen (50-55kg), Vu Duc Hung (70-75kg), Nguyen Tan Sang (75-80kg), and Nguyen Duy Tuyen (85-90kg).
