SEA Games 31: Flag-raising ceremony held
PANO - On the morning of May 11, the ceremony to hoist the flags of sports delegations to the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) was held at My Dinh National Sports Complex in Hanoi.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong warmly welcomes the delegations to Vietnam.
Held in Hanoi and 11 neighboring cities and provinces, the 31st SEA Games is a sports event attracting the participation of the most outstanding athletes in the region. The Organizing Committee also hopes to bring wonderful experiences to 8,000 officials, coaches and athletes from 11 Southeast Asian countries and along with sports officials from across the world.He stressed that the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed many sports events in the region and the world, including the 31st SEA Games. However, with the encouragement of the Vietnamese people and enthusiastic support of countries in the Southeast Asian region, the Vietnamese Government is determined to organize a successful and safe SEA Games.

According to the Committee, each of participating country sent 31 members to the ceremony besides the participation of representatives from their embassies.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was intended to encourage athletes and promote culture and people of Vietnam.
The 31st SEA Games, themed “For a Stronger South East Asia,” features 40 sports with 523 events. The event is scheduled to last until May 23.
