Nguyen Thi Oanh finishing the 5,000m event in 17 minutes and 23.20 seconds
With the achievement of 17:23:20, the Vietnamese athlete topped the race. Her teammate Pham Thi Hue won the silver while the bronze medal went to Triyaningsih from Indonesia.

Earlier, Oanh won a gold medal at the women’s 1,500m category.

Meanwhile, in the long jump event, Bui Thi Thu Thao showed her best performance to bring home a gold medal. This was her first gold at this Game.

As of 10:00 am on August 25, Vietnam remained second in the SEA Games 29’s medal table, with a total of 94 medals, including 37 golds, 25 silvers and 32 bronzes.

Vietnam sent more than 470 athletes to compete at the region’s biggest sporting event from August 19-31. They are competing in 32 out of 38 sports and aim to bring home 49-59 gold medals for a top three.
