The 132nd anniversary of the Yen The Uprising

After offering incense to Hero Hoang Hoa Tham, head of the uprising, and his fallen men, participants were entertained with an artistic performance themed "Yen The Uprising, convergence and development" and a series of cultural and sport competition activities such as a tug of war, stick pushing, chess and a puppetry show.

The Yen The Uprising against the French troops, beginning on March 16th, 1884, under the leadership of Luong Van Nam and then Hoang Hoa Tham, involved many patriots, mostly peasants. Despite having no final victory, the three-decade long uprising mirrored the strength and desires for independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people.
