PANO – A month-long exhibition on weaving and dyeing traditional craft will open on July 1 in Thuong Lam communal house, Na Hang district, Tuyen Quang province.

Photographs taken by local people, research materials from interviews, and a documentary film on the three workshops which were conducted in Bo village early this year will be exhibited.

This exhibition is the outcome of a research project carried out by UNESCO and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology with the aim of helping ethnic communities protect their cultural identities and find sustainable means to work with craft production. Moreover, the role of women in domestic economy is hoped to be promoted thanks to stable outlets for textile products.

In this project, the Museum of Ethnology researchers have applied Photo Voice-technique, where participants were given cameras to document their perceptions on the topic. Interviews were then conducted based on these pictures.

Twelve local people, two researchers from the museum and one museum specialist from UNESCO have materialised this significant project.
