PANO – The Vietnam Writers’ Association (VWA) held an exchange on September 3rd with Kostas Sarantidis Nguyen Van Lap, a Greek citizen who was recently granted the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces”.

Present at the exchange were poet Huu Thinh, VWA’s Chairman, Vu Nguyen The, former General Secretary of the Vietnam-Greece Friendship Association, and Lap’s comrades from Regiment 108 of Interzone 5.

At the exchange, poet Huu Thinh congratulated and expressed his admiration for Lap's contributions to the resistance war of Vietnamese people against French colonialists, as well as to the friendship between Greece and Vietnam. 

Veterans of Regiment 108 recalled the magnanimous time when Lap and troops of Company 1 under Battalion 39 and other units were side by side in battlefields in Interzone 5.

The participating writers also listened to moving stories about the contributions of “Volunteer Ambassador” Nguyen Van Lap to the relations between the two countries, told by Mr. Vu Nguyen The. Lap was called “The Greek citizen with a heart towards Vietnam” by overseas Vietnamese.
