Vietnamese students shine at regional maths competition
PANO - 38 out of 48 Vietnamese secondary school students, who attended the 2017 Challenge for Future Mathematicians (2017 CFM) in Malaysia, shined at the competition with three gold, 11 silver, and 24 bronze medals and 10 consolation prizes.
Thanks to their outstanding achievements, the Vietnamese delegation ranked 4th in the group of seventh/eighth grade students, and was the first runner-up in the group of third/fourth grade students.
Among the Vietnamese winners were eight students from Giang Vo Secondary School, namely Phan Tung Duong - Class 8A5 (gold medal); Nguyen Xuan Bach (silver medal); and Nguyen Minh Triet, Duong Dang Minh Quan, Tran Minh Tu, Tran Duc Anh, Ly Han Minh Quang, and Nguyen Thien Luong (bronze medals).
The 2017 Challenge for Future Mathematicians took place in Malaysia from Dec. 8 to 10 with the participation of 200 contestants from regional countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The first individual prize went to the Filipino team while the Malaysian team won the first group prize.
