Designer Vo Viet Chung will introduce 30 designs of costumes at a fashion event in Thailand, of which 15 ones are made of Vietnamese traditional silk, and inspired from the Vietnamese traditional long-dress, the ao-dai, in 20th century.
From July 5th to 11th, Chung will take part in the Asian Fashion Week 2011 named “Silk - Asian Heritage” held in Thailand, with the participation of more than 15 countries.
He will introduce his two collections: “the Southern women” and “Miss Ba”. In his first collection, he for the first time uses velvet, wool and silk to create various new-style costumes based on the traditional ones, with the support of wooden bead strings that are skilfully made by hand. At the show, Vietnamese models in the dresses will cover their hair with silk scarves and flowers, which could make them more graceful and attractive, typical characteristics of Vietnamese women.
His second collection includes 15 designs made of Lanh My A, a kind of “cocoon-silk” which has been previously introduced on Fashion Television Chanel. Chung said: “I hope that our special and rustic culture will be shown through my designs”.
The program “Silk - Asian Heritage” will be broadcast live on Television Channels of Thailand and Asia.
