PANO – 70 silk producers, fashion designers and businesses from nine countries, including China, Italia, Thailand, Japan and Myanmar, will take part in the Vietnam-Asia Silk Culture Festival 2016, themed “Bringing silk into modern life”, on March 28th and 29th in Hoi An.

The event aims to honor the cultural values of the silk industry, expand international cooperation with other countries, popularize the image of the UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage site of Hoi An, as well as connect service models, “Popularizing the fashion city to the world through tourists”. 

The festival will have a variety of activities, including an incense offering ceremony in commemoration of Quang Nam’s Queen of silk, and an introduction and performance of traditional weaving techniques of silk of the Tan Chau silk craft village, traditional patterns for Cham people’s wedding as well as the Catu ethnic people’s traditional brocade weaving.

The organizers will also introduce some modern silk products from typical Vietnamese silk craft villages, including Nha Xa, Van Phuc, Ma Chau, and Tan Chau. More specially, visitors will also have a chance to tour Hoi An Silk Village and take part in a seminar, themed “Silk in modern life”.

At the opening ceremony held in Hoi An Silk Village on March 28th, young fashion designers like Dinh Bach Dat and Eric Nguyen will introduce their collections of silk clothing.
