The Quang Nam provincial Culture and Information Department has carried out research on the Co Tu ethnic group’s brocade weaving.
Field-work, a sociological investigation, and a survey of Co Tu ethnic group’s festivals and brocade weaving showed that the Co Tu ethnic community in districts of Nam Giang, Dong Giang, Tay Giang in Quang Nam province has preserved its traditional brocade weaving.
Moreover, brocade weaving villages have been restored and developed in Zara hamlet of Tàbhing commune, Achinr hamlet of Atiêng commune, Congdon hamlet of Zhuoi commune, Bhohoong hamlet of Songkon commune.
A 30-minute documentary, a VCD of pictures related to brocade weaving and other documents were made by the research panel.
The above project is part of the Information and Culture Ministry’s national goals on preserving and bringing ethnic communities’ intangible cultural values into play.
