The Old House at 87 Ma May, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi these days is witnessing the first interesting convergence of three sorts of folk paintings including Kim Hoang, Hang Trong and Dong Ho.
Besides showing paintings, artisans also introduced the technique of making such kind of artistic works to visitors, considering part of the country’s traditional culture.
Representing Dong Ho school is the family of artisan Nguyen Huu San who has been working very hard to preserve the trade for years.
Hang Trong painting colorfully appears with two different types; serving religion and its spiritual life in temples, pagodas and Tet holidays.
Traditional trade has experienced lots of ups and downs and many artisans had passed away. However, its decedents have been preserving and revitalizing the craft.
The convergence offers a panorama of three kinds of folk paintings which were once very famous in Vietnam.
