Thousands participate in Roong Pooc Festival in Ta Van commune

This is one of the most typical festivals held annually in Sa Pa, imbued with ethnic cultural identity.

In this festival, a stage is special for art performances, helping preserve local traditional culture.

The festival is to end the month-long lunar New Year (Tet) holiday and start a new production cycle or a new crop season. It is also an occasion to worship the deity of the earth to pray for good crops, good livestock farming, peace in the village, and good health for locals.

The festival aims to help preserve the traditional culture of ethnic groups in Sa Pa township in general and Ta Van commune in particular. In addition, it is a playground for local artisans and amateur art performers to exchange and promote responsibility to preserve the traditional culture of the nation. It is to popularize local tourism development potential and strength as well.

Nguyen Thuy Linh, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said that her family and she were happy to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the unique ethnic cultural identity that few other localities have. “This is our family’s wonderful trip,” said Linh.

Chairman of the commune’s People’s Committee Nguyen Hoai Nam said that this year’s festival was a success. Thanks to good weather conditions, thousands of locals and visitors flocked to the event.
