A representative from the family of Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh speaks at the book-debuting event.

Sixty five years ago, General Nguyen Chi Thanh made a strong statement “Fight for peace” at the 15th meeting of the second Party Central Committee in December 1959. Later on, his important theories and practicality in leading and directing the Southern revolution became an important and decisive factor that helped the Party in devising and perfecting the guideline on anti-U.S. resistance war for national salvation.

The general’s son, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, devoted his life to the noble peace ideal. Engraving in the mind of Vietnamese people and international friends is the image of a defense diplomat excelling in realizing the Party’s guideline, especially in the context of intensive international integration, and a person with strategic vision on Fatherland defense early and from afar and for peace.

The book gives readers a clear insight into the Party and military’s viewpoints when deciding to engage in the U.N. peacekeeping operations, the building of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force and the flying of Vietnam’s national flag at U.N. peacekeeping missions.

The book mentions many Vietnamese peacekeepers and their stories, spotlighting their life and working environment to complete challenging tasks, helping shine the good virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. It also highlights comradeship and positive values in life and career.
