PANO- Scores of people inside and outside Thai Nguyen province attended a tea festival, entitled “Flavours of Spring Tea”, at the Tea Cultural Space, in Tan Cuong commune, Thai Nguyen provincial city, on February 10th, 2014.

The festival included a parade for the most ancient tea plant in the region, a contest of tea drying, an exhibition on tea products, artistic performances and a wide range of traditional games, such as gamecock, chess, tug of war and throwing “Con” (cloth ball).

The annual event aims to honour the traditional tea planting and tea plant, a specialty of Tan Cuong commune. It also creates a chance for tea makers and tea lovers to share, discuss and exchange experiences and knowledge about Tan Cuong tea in particular, and Thai Nguyen tea in general.

This is the 7th year the Tan Cuong tea region, including Phuc Xuan, Phuc Triu and Tan Cuong communes, with a total area of 4,860 ha, has been granted the geographical indication for its tea brand name.
