Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son presents the stamps to Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, the son of General Nguyen Chi Thanh

A set of special stamps to mark the 100th birth anniversary of General Nguyen Chi Thanh (1914-2014) was issued in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on December 31.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son highlighted general Thanh’s devotion to the country’s revolutionary cause.

The stamps aim at honouring the General’s great contribution to the Party and the country.

They were jointly launched by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Post Corporation.

Nguyen Chi Thanh, whose real name was Nguyen Vinh, was born in 1914 in Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien-Hue province. He took the post of Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army in 1950 and was promoted to General in 1959.

During his 30 years of revolutionary activities, he established himself as a talented leader with undaunted fighting spirit, making significant contribution to the glorious victory of the Party’s revolutionary cause.
