Stamp collection marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
PANO - The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Post launched a stamp collection to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the national hero of India, on October 2.
The 32x43mm-sized stamp was designed by artist Nguyen Du from the Vietnam Post in two main colors. The stamp, featuring the portrait of the Indian hero, will be distributed at post offices from October 2, 2019 to June 30, 2021.

The stamp commemorates and honors Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of peace and non-violence and his contributions to the Indian people’s struggle for independence. The commemorative stamp also serves to strengthen the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership.
Born on October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi led India in the struggle for national independence. He is honored as a national hero by the Indian people. His birthday is a major national holiday, and the United Nations has also declared October 2 as the International Day of Non-violence to honor Gandhi's message.
