The event is held for members of families to thank ancestors and gods and pray for their health, favorable work, development, and solidarity among family members. The ceremony is also to remind members of families to always remember their ancestors and the origin of their community.

To prepare for Pang Phoong ceremony, the head of the family buys offerings, consults necromancer to choose a good day for the event, meets with relatives and announces the date and time of the event. According to the conception of the Khang ethnic minority people, the head of the family must prepare at least three bottles of straw wine for the ancestors of the paternal and maternal families and their brothers.

Below are photos of the ceremony.
