The participants reaffirmed the great contributions Nam Cao made to the nation's revolutionary cause, especially to the national revolutionary literature. He is often referred to as one of the most prominent short-story writers in Vietnamese literature.

The writer was born on October 29th, 1915, in Dai Hoang village, Hoa Hau commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province. He devoted his whole life to the nation's resistance war against the French colonialists and used his pen and his talent to reflect the society of that time.

In 1951, he was ambushed and killed on his way to Gia Vien district, in Ninh Binh province. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature in 1996.

His works became widely known among local readers, including “Chi Pheo”, “Mua danh” (Title purchase), “Lao Hac” (Old Hac), “Mot dam cuoi” (A wedding), “Doi thua” (Redundant life), and so forth.
