PANO - The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) held a national-level seminar themed "Role of Sino-Nom script in Vietnam's contemporary culture" on August 27 in Hanoi.

45 reports delivered by scientists and experts nationwide at the event pointed out major cultural events relating to Sino-Nom script (Sino-Vietnamese characters) over the past time such as the seal-stamp distribution at several traditional festivals, values of the Han - Nom script documents to researches of the East Sea (South China Sea) for the national defense cause, and so on.

Several other presentations at the seminar also referred to measures of promoting roles of the scripts to the management of Vietnamese culture.
