Luu Quang Vu-Xuan Quynh's family

Several activities have been held to remember the artist couple, Luu Quang Vu and Xuan Quynh, who died 20 years ago.

On August 19th, a documentary entitled ‘Luu Quang Vu-Xuan Quynh’s Bequest’, directed by Nguyen Thuoc, written by Dao Trong Khanh and produced by the Central Scientific Documentary Film Studio, was screened in Hanoi.

Through old pictures, yellowed diaries, illustrations and recollections by the couple’s friends and relatives, the 50-minute-documentary featured their short and talented lives which were full of ups and downs.

Also shown in the film were their poems and plays which have been kept and remembered by poetry and play lovers.

During 20 years of working in the arts, Luu Quang Vu composed more than 60 plays as well as a dozen valuable collections of poems.

An abridged, 30 minute version of the documentary will be broadcast on VTV1 on the evening of August 25th.

On August 21st, ‘Luu Quang Vu-Posthumous Manuscript’ is to be released by the Lao Dong Publishing House in association with the Phuong Nam Book Company and Luu Quang Vu-Xuan Quynh’s family.

Some excerpts from Luu Quang Vu’s famous plays will be staged at the Tuoi Tre Theatre, Hanoi on August 28th.

One day later, a service of remembrance will be held by the Vietnamese Writers’ and Stage Artists’ Associations.
